Overview
Skills profiling is one mechanism to identify and document the skills in supply, whereas skills recognition helps workers validate the skills and competencies they have gained formally, non-formally and informally. Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is a means of recognizing that learning happens in all contexts and provides a mechanism to identify, assess, and certify a person’s knowledge and skills, regardless of how they were learned. RPL assessment and certification are conducted against learning outcomes. Skills profiling can allow job-seekers from both refugee and host communities to understand how their skills are transferable to different occupations and sectors. This is particularly relevant for refugees, who may not see the relevance of their previous experiences to the opportunities available to them in the host country.
