Guidelines 

• Assessor training should focus on how to  evaluate practical skills and knowledge effectively in diverse settings.
• Practical skills need to be assessed alongside traditional classroom exams to test theoretical knowledge.
• Bear in mind that, sometimes, the assessor will require transport to travel to assess practical skills demonstrated within a work environment (for example to assess agriculture-related skills on farms in rural areas).
• Assessors and administrators need to guide applicants through the process effectively, explaining documentation requirements, portfolio presentation and assessment procedures. These may differ based on the sector concerned.
• Assessors, administrators and facilitators should learn to communicate the benefits of RPL effectively, showcasing successful outcomes and addressing concerns to build trust among refugee and host community applicants.
